Suman grew up in West Bengal, India, where he developed an early interest in science and problem-solving. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Bengal (2017) before earning a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University (2019). He then pursued his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Santanu Mukherjee at the Indian Institute of Science, focusing on asymmetric and transition-metal catalysis, especially stereochemical complexity and reaction development.

After earning his Ph.D. in 2025, he ventured to the US and joined the Huang Group at IU Bloomington as a postdoctoral researcher in February 2026. Here, he's interested in designing new monomers, as well as developing innovative synthetic methodologies. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing cricket and has a keen interest in geopolitics, often exploring the complexities of global affairs.

Fun Facts: He often compares designing chemical reactions to strategizing a cricket match—both demand precision, patience, and adaptability. Despite working in complex synthetic chemistry, he enjoys simplifying global geopolitical issues just for fun. He believes that a well-planned reaction and a perfectly timed cricket shot share the same elegance.
